All the hard work paid off! Thank you everyone for your support.
Dear Friends and Family,
Together we have raised nearly $20,000 for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and cancer research in support of our sister-in-law Annie. Over 140 people have contributed to this cause and your sponsorship has driven our motivation to train for the New York City Half Marathon.
It’s only a week away and our training is winding down in advance of the run.
We thought we’d share some fun facts about our regimen:
– We are currently running a little over 20 miles a week in prep for race day.
– Our longest single run prior to the race has been 12 miles
– We have improved our pace by about 1:30/mile since we started training in January. (We’re running about an 8:30 min mile).
– I’ve lost 10% of my body weight since we started training!
– Liz has pushed through tendonitis in her ankle to continue training these past few weeks.
– I wake at 5 AM twice a week to get my run in before heading off to the office.
– We do our long runs together on the weekend thanks to a LOT of babysitting by our supportive families.
– Over the last 3 months and through all our training, we have never lost focus on why we are running.
We really can’t thank each of you enough! Your support has motivated and inspired us so we can’t leave anything on the course next week. We will send a final note after the race with our official times (so you can see we really did it :) but we wanted you all to know now how much this means to us, Annie, Adam and all our families.
Wish us luck,
James and Liz
I know the blog is in dire need of updating and I promise to go back and update on everything that has been happening. But I wanted to let everyone know that:
Liz and I are running the NYC half marathon to raise money for cancer research.

He’s a scrawny little champ.
After peeing all of the moyel (NO JOKE) Caleb did his shot of sugared Manischevitz, joined the tribe and went back to sleep.
poor baby :(
On January 4th, 2010 at 4:31 PM we welcomed our son, Caleb Shai Rubinstein, to the world. He weighs 6 lbs 6.4 ozs and is 21 inches tall.
After making us wait 13 days past his due date, 4 days past a 2009 tax deduction, and god knows how short of a natural birth Lizzie was induced starting around 7pm last night. After nearly 20 hours of labor Caleb was born happy and healthy. Lizzie is also doing great.
Thank you to Jennifer Parmalee, our wonderful doula.
for posterity i’m posting some video of me skiing…
ill get liz’s up soon!
Cousin Noah and Missy had their first baby:
Gabriel Nathan Rubinstein on Tuesday September 22, 2009 at 6:05 am in St. John’s Hospital,
Santa Monica, CA, weighing 7 pounds 2 oz.
mom, dad, Gabriel and the cat are all doing great.
Evidently walking between subway cars while the train is in the station and the car doors are open is a chargeable offense.
Not even the ‘my pregnant wife is waiting for me at whole foods’ excuse got me out of this one.
And you can’t even keep your hands in your pocket while they wait to find out from central if you have any open warrants… which I don’t.
yes it says $75.
